Therapy for Teens
Adolescence is a complex developmental stage marked by significant emotional, cognitive, and social changes. Therapy offers a structured and confidential space for teens to navigate mental health concerns, identity questions, and life transitions.
My approach is collaborative and strengths-based, with an emphasis on helping teens build insight, practice self-regulation, and improve interpersonal effectiveness. While teens have the right to confidentiality, I encourage healthy family communication and will involve caregivers when clinically appropriate or with the teen’s consent.
A supportive space for self-exploration, emotional regulation, and identity development.
Focus areas may include:
Anxiety, depression, and mood dysregulation
Identity development (cultural, gender, sexual, or personal)
Peer and family relationship dynamics
Academic stress and performance anxiety
Trauma history or unresolved grief
What to expect:
Teens aged 13+ can consent to their own therapy in Washington state. The first session is usually a one-on-one intake with the teen. If the teen gives consent, we may also schedule a separate session with parents to gather background and offer support around the therapy process. Parental involvement is encouraged when helpful and appropriate.
